Columbia University Creative Producing Admissions

As the Creative Producing Admissions Assistant for the 23-24’ school year, it’s been an honor to connect with prospective students interested in applying to the MFA program. It’s given me a chance to reflect on my time in the program, connect with other aspiring producers, and to support the program that’s taught me so much and propelled my career forward as a producer.

Check out the 2023 Creative Producing Q&A session where you can hear prospective students ask questions about the program and receive answers from myself and the program’s faculty.

Video Art & Experimental Film Festival

  • Programming & Partnership

This year I returned to the Video Art & Experimental Film Festival (VAEFF) as their Senior Coordinator of Programming and Partnership.

I’ve been working with the avant-garde film festival since 2020 as a curator then grew with the team as artist coordinator and co-moderator. For the 2023 program I was happy to spearhead the festival’s first media partnership with Nick Knight’s SHOWstudio.

Here I was able to work in collaboration with Sam Bassett, Head of Film + Christina Donoghue, Art & Culture Editor to curate SHOWStudio’s Special Feature Program for the 23’ festival and hand-picked VAEFF artists for spotlight interviews on the iconic platform.

  • Julianknxx on the aRT OF fiLMMAKING

“On Freedom of Movement (wi de muv)” showcased during VAEFF23 in the Color, Movement, & Fashion program. The film is an embodiment of the program title, presenting the colors, people, and fashion of Sierra Leone. The short film explores themes of movement, migration, and even highlights Madam Wokie, the sustainable fashion brand led by women.

  • Maya peters talks fashion film

“Camp Isaboko” screened at VAEFF’s opening night ceremony at Tribeca Film Center and during the Color, Movement, & Fashion program. It was a joy to have Maya join us in-person at the festival to talk about the inspiration behind the film and its nostalgic execution.
